10 June - Furzeley Challenge - Furzeley
Ten under!!
by Trev
Hi Guys,
Once again thank you to those that managed to get the day off work and turn up for the Furzelely Challenge Cup, and Happy 30th Birthday to Jason Mihell.
Results of the Day
I have to say my computer nearly exploded when I put Mr Steve Farrell's card in. A message appeared "How can a 28 Handicapper shoot 10 UNDER PAR!!!!", generating probably our biggest cut to date of 6.6 shots. (Ouch!!) With a strong field of mid - low handicappers this guy still managed to blow them all away.
Well done Steve.
Some say that this competition favours the higher handicappers but like any other competition you still have to shoot the round.
Seriously guys, this is what I like about the Anchor; EVERYONE has the opportunity to win, High or Low Handicap.
Well done to Mr Bob Palmer who shot his best round this year with a net 62 Par round to take 2nd Place.
Also Nearest the Pins won by Mr Jason Bowles & Bob Baldacchino.
Birdies won by Bob "Bisto" Unwin with a 2 on his card on the 12th,
Suren Johanssen having a birdie on the 14th
and Trevor Geddes driving the 14th... just missing the green keeper and the eagle putt
Well done guys.
Best 8 Games
Dan Wheeler holds onto 2nd place even though he never played Furzeley. Lots of movers, however no real panic as we have a further 8 games to score from so you can knock off your low scores.
Ones to watch: Sam Fraser & Jason Mihell with no wins this year as yet but could still catch the leaders.
Order Of Merit
No Change here as Furzeley's results do not alter this Major Competition, but Old Thorns results will confirm the players for the Top 16 Knockout Competition.
There are 6 players currently outside the qualifying zone who could still qualify. You all know what you need to do. IMPORTANT; For those who have not yet confirmed for Old Thorns we have only 32 places with 16 buggies reserved. 1st come 1st served, please let Bob Unwin, Herb Miller or Trevor Geddes know ASAP.
Medal Competition
All change here with Bob Chino, Bisto & Trev Geddes moving up the table, however in contrast I feel this will dramatically change after the results of Old Thorns.
Vets
We have joint Leaders with Herb Miller & Bob Baldacchino.
One to watch: John Nash.
Check out all League Tables along with results of the day,
cya at Old Thorns.
Cheers Trev.
